Firearms Licensing Update
Ballardong Aboriginal Corporation (BAC) thanks members for their patience while we worked through enquiries about the new firearms licensing requirements.
All members awaiting a response from BAC about firearms licensing support should now have been contacted. If you have not heard from us, please email kaya@ballardong.org.au.
Written Authorisations replace BAC support letters
BAC now submits Written Authorisations directly through the WA Police Firearms Licensing Portal to support members’ firearms licence applications. Members no longer need to obtain a separate firearms support letter from BAC.
To request a Written Authorisation from BAC, you must be a current BAC member. The authorisation confirms your BAC membership and supports your firearms licence application.
Current members can request a Written Authorisation here.
If you are not yet a member, you can apply for BAC membership here. Once your membership has been approved, you can request a Written Authorisation.
Existing Written Authorisation holders - DON’T PANIC!!
Following a change to the BAC personnel logged in the Firearms Portal, all current Written Authorisations issued by BAC have to be “reissued.”
As part of this process, you may receive a notification advising that your previous Written Authorisation has been cancelled. This may relate to the replacement of your earlier authorisation with a newly issued authorisation.
If you receive a cancellation notification or would like to confirm that your replacement authorisation is active, please contact BAC at kaya@ballardong.org.au.
For questions about the status of your firearms licence, please contact the WA Police Licensing Services (Firearms) Transition Team on 1300 894 474.
Thank you for your patience as we implement these new arrangements.
