Mitigation Crew Member
DFES State Bushfire Mitigation team
About the role
There is an exciting employment opportunity with the State Bushfire Mitigation team, which sits within the Rural Fire Division of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES). Their role is to protect communities and landscapes by reducing fuel loads across Western Australia to minimise the impact of bushfire on communities.
The Role: The Mitigation Crew Member role involves hands-on work to reduce bushfire risk across Western Australia. Crew members carry out planned burning, firebreak construction, vegetation removal, chemical spraying, and operating power tools as part of fuel load reduction activities.
What They Will Need: Applicants must hold a current driver’s licence and be prepared to work in a variety of environments, from remote bushland to urban areas. Physical fitness, teamwork, and a commitment to safety are essential, as the work can be demanding and requires attention to detail.
If you know of anyone that is looking to be a part of a supportive team that undertakes rewarding work travelling across the state to help keep communities and landscapes safe, please use the QR code to view the video and for further details in the attached flyer.
