  • Kevin’s ambition is to work for his people in business and enterprise.

    He currently works in cultural services to different organisations and education centres, for example providing Aboriginal input to a new building at Edith Cowan University.

    Kevin’s vision is to secure a steady flow of employment training and support for education in Noongar language.

    He believes the Noongar nation needs to work together, and as a Noongar man, supports his people for a better lifestyle.

  • Norman, with his wife Rhonda, have four children and ten grandchildren. His parents are Fred and Dorcas Pickett nee Yarran, and grandparents are Arnold Pickett and Margaret Pickett nee Indich also Norman Yarran and Beatrice Yarran nee Winmar.

    Norman has nine years’ experience with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC), a Diploma in Aboriginal Community Administrating and has completed leadership training and development in Canberra.

    Norman aims to be a voice for the people of Ballardong, so their concerns are heard loud and clear.

  • Michael is of Noongar descent from the Ballardong Region.

    Michael has previously been the Regional Officer for the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council and has also worked for the Noongar Land Council.

    He has always been dedicated to supporting Noongar people, with an understanding of many of the disadvantages that Noongar people face.

    Michael is passionate about improving life outcomes for all families, and to see Noongar children and families fulfil their ambition.

  • Murray is a descendant from the Ballardong and Whadjuk people.

    Murray was a founding member and employee of the Noongar Land Council based in Narrogin, an employee and Chairperson of the Wheatbelt Aboriginal Corporation, and the first Chairperson of Wangkininy Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Council (ATSIC) Regional Council.

    Murray has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the past and current issues affecting Noongar individuals, families, communities and also the wider community – including issues causing disadvantage, and the impact of the Stolen Generations on contemporary Aboriginal families.

  • Michelle has 20 years’ experience working in the native title sector. She has worked extensively on country with a range of Native Title Holders and Traditional Owners across Western Australia including in relation to complex land access negotiations and cultural and heritage matters.

    She has substantive experience in relation to the legal, corporate and cultural governance requirements of CATSI Act Corporations as well as overseeing the compliance and management of native title trusts.

  • Tahnee is an experienced board director who has worked with many regional and remote Aboriginal corporations to help build robust board governance and decision-making processes.

    She has previously worked as a lawyer at the Aboriginal Legal Service of WA and enjoys spending time on Country and listening to the old people's stories.

The first member-elected directors began their term at the end of the first general meeting, which was held on 18 June in Northam.

Cultural Advice Committee

The cultural advice committee (CAC) is made up of Elders who consider matters relevant to culture, and make decisions to promote and protect our cultural interests.

The female members of the cultural advice committee are: Kathleen Mary Davis and Shirley Ruby Harris (term end 2025); Deborah Moody and Geraldine Metcalf Blurton (term end 2024); Muriel Pearl Collard (term end 2023); and Olive Bennell.

The male members of the cultural advice committee are: Farley Garlett and Desmond Blurton (term end 2025); Roger Turvey and Murray Jones (term end 2024); Jarrod Hayden (term end 2023); and Tharren Kickett.
