A tourism strategy grounded in Country
BAC is developing an integrated tourism strategy to identify culturally appropriate tourism opportunities across Ballardong Country and establish a long-term pathway for their development.
The strategy will bring together Country, culture, community aspirations, existing attractions, regional visitor markets and potential commercial opportunities. It will also consider how tourism can support employment, enterprise development, cultural interpretation and stronger connections to Country.
What we're delivering
During 2026–27, BAC will work with Ballardong people and regional partners to understand existing tourism assets and opportunities, identify priority concepts and develop an integrated strategy capable of moving suitable opportunities towards delivery.

Initial tourism research and regional engagement planning are being connected with BAC's broader land, enterprise and community engagement programs.
Tourism included in 2027 regional engagement planning
BAC will use engagement with towns and communities across the Ballardong ILUA area to identify local tourism assets, ideas, visitor opportunities and community priorities.
Tourism opportunities being linked with land planning
Tourism opportunities will be considered alongside BAC's Land Information Platform and Land Master Plan so potential sites can be understood in terms of tenure, access, constraints, cultural values and development potential.
Integrated Tourism Strategy established as a priority
BAC's 2026–27 Annual Plan establishes development of an Integrated Ballardong Tourism Strategy as one of the Corporation's ten priority projects.
